Introduction
FSIoffice is a leading independent workplace solutions provider based in Charlotte, North Carolina, serving organizations across the Southeast with office supplies, facility and janitorial products, breakroom solutions, furniture, education supplies, print, and promotional products.
For over two decades, ScanOnline served as FSIoffice’s developer, technical support provider, and primary source of hardware, software, and services for its route delivery system. Following RMS Omega’s 2024 acquisition of ScanOnline, FSIoffice continued its modernization efforts, and after successfully upgrading its route delivery program that year, turned its attention to its overstock inventory system.
The Challenge
FSIoffice’s overstock inventory, which was frequently moved, temporarily stored, and driven by fluctuating customer demand, had long been managed through a reliable, in-house-developed Microsoft Access application, which laid the groundwork for a more connected, scalable solution as the business grew.
Recognizing an opportunity to modernize, FSIoffice set out to replace this legacy overstock inventory system with a platform offering greater flexibility, stronger reporting, and real-time inventory visibility. This was the ideal moment to modernize several areas at once, including upgrading to newer Android-based Zebra devices, replacing manually printed barcode labels with rack labeling, and strengthening SKU and batch tracking across the board.
The Solution
FSIoffice needed a mobile-enabled, scalable solution that could match the efficiency of its newly modernized delivery system, to improve visibility and integrate a level of automation to remove more manual effort from the inventory verification process.
